Ticker Technologies Releases Upgraded Stock Charts Package
NEW YORK, November 15, 2002 - Ticker Technologies, Inc. (http://www.tickertech.com), a premier provider of applications for integrating market-related content into Internet, Intranet, and Extranet sites, announces a new release of the company's Stock Charts to include futures traded on the NYMEX and COMEX exchanges.
Ticker Technologies Inc. (TTI) currently offers a Stock Charts package covering indices and stocks traded on all U.S. and Canadian exchanges. With the new package, data from the NYMEX and the COMEX will also be included, featuring energy futures such as crude oil, unleaded gasoline, and natural gas, as well as metals futures such as gold, silver, and copper.
Programmed using Sun's (NASDAQ: SUNW) Java technology, TTI's proprietary Stock Charts software utilizes Java Servlets to generate customized charts on-the-fly to meet the user's exact specifications. Benjamin Nobel, TTI's CTO, stated, "Unlike competing chart packages which create static files nightly, our servlet-based charting software is designed to chart any combination of stocks, bond yields, indices, futures, etc., using any specified color scheme, any dimensions, any font, etc., and deliver that chart back to the user in real-time."
The types of charts the system can output include line, point, bar, and candle stick. Price history can be charted by price or by percent change, and can also include moving averages. TTI powers its charting software with a fleet of Dell PowerEdge servers running the RedHat (NASDAQ: RHAT) Linux operating system.
Located at NTT/Verio's Manhattan data center, TTI's server infrastructure is fully redundant and connected to the Verio backbone via triple-redundant connections.
"Clients using our Stock Charts are not simply downloading image files from our systems," stated Adam Menzel, TTI's COO. "They are connecting to applications running on a fleet of load-balanced appliance servers. This makes redundancy and reliability key to our business, and it is something we strive for at every level."
